Pinellas Affordable Living (PAL), Inc. is a Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO) certified by the City of St. Petersburg, Pinellas County and the Florida Housing Finance Corporation. A subsidiary corporation of Boley Centers, PAL, Inc. was created to develop safe, decent, affordable housing for low and very low income households in Pinellas County. Ten percent of all units are set aside to house individuals with mental illnesses.
The Section 8 Mainstream Housing Program for People with Disabilities expands access to safe, decent, affordable housing for eligible disabled households in Pinellas County through rental assistance. Recipients of a Section 8 voucher are entitled to rental assistance, requiring them to pay only 1/3 of their monthly income on rent. Staff work to ensure the quality of housing meets the standards of both Boley Centers and the Department of Housing and Urban Development through regular inspections, advocacy efforts and case management activities. In addition to rental assistance, the Section 8 program provides for a continuum of services which include case management services and links to support and social services.
The Section 8 Housing Opportunities for People With Aids (HOPWA) Program provides safe, decent, affordable housing for individuals who are HIV positive or have AIDS. Rental assistance as well as utility reimbursement payments (URP) are provided to eligible Pinellas County residents.
