U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development Announces Three Awards for Boley Centers, Inc.
St. Petersburg, Florida, - July 14, 2010 - Boley Centers has been awarded three
grants by the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) totaling
$3,278,988. These grants will allow for the construction and operation of 35
units of housing for people who have a mental illness and have low income.
Twelve of the units will be set-aside for people who are also chronically
homeless.
Two of the awards fall under the
U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development's HUD 811 Program which
provides funding for Supportive Housing and allows the residents to pay no more
than one third of their income for rent.Within the State of
Florida, there were
only three HUD 811 Awards announced, all in
PinellasCounty:
two went to Boley Centers and the third went to Abilities of Florida, Inc.
The award of $1,816,200 provides
funds for the construction of 14 one-bedroom units in
St. Petersburg.The second award of $1,167,600 provides funds
for the construction of nine one-bedroom units in unincorporated
PinellasCounty.
Boley Centers’ third award is funded
through HUD’s Continuum of Care program which provides housing and services for
people who are homeless. This award of $295,288 will provide funds for the
construction and operation of 12 units of housing for people who have a mental
illness and who are chronically homeless. The Continuum of Care program is coordinated
locally by the Pinellas County Coalition for the Homeless.
